Leonard is an 11 year old who really loves fishing and sports. He deals with the effects of Cerebral Palsy, and other conditions, on a daily basis but he doesn't let this hold him back. One of his favorite movies is Disney Pixar's Cars and his dream is to visit Disney and Central Florida to visit all of his favorite characters and to see some really big fish. On September 16th, his dream came true. Thanks to the efforts of The Something mAAgic Foundation, American Airlines, and The Dream Factory - he and his family enjoyed a fun-filled week in the Florida sun and Leonard got to see all of his favorite characters!

Impressed by how well The Dream Factory did during WishFlight 2009, the Something mAAgic Foundation and American Airlines wanted more children to experience the mAAgic and gave us more opportunities to send more children, even in areas where there are no chapters. Tommy is a 9 year old boy who loves hot dogs, the Dallas Cowboys and Disney. He has End Stage Renal Disease but he did have a kidney transplant and is recovering well at this time. His dream is to visit Disney World and we are glad that he and his family saw this dream come true on October 1st! He and his family had a great time and will remember this moment of a lifetime for a long time.

                    In Loving Memory
             April 15, 1998 - April 17, 2011

Last year, The Dream Factory was honored to participate in WishFlight 2009, sponsored by the Something mAAgic Foundation and American Airlines for the very first time. Everything went so well, we are pleased to participate in WishFlight 2010! Nathan was a wonderful 12 year old boy that had Sanfillipo syndrome. He was once an active boy but his condition quickly deteriorated and he relied on others for everything. He loved Disney and whales and his dream was to go to Disney World or Sea World, so we are glad that his dream came true! Nathan, his parents and 4 siblings were one of 45 families world wide that went to Central Florida on October 1st, 2010! Nathan and his family really enjoyed Central Florida and Give Kids the World. Nathan went to be with the angels and the family has memories they will cherish forever. It was an honor for us to grant his dream.

Andrew is an active teenager and he loves music and technology. He doesn't let the challenges of his neuroblastoma slow him down. His dream is to have a laptop for school and music editing and also DJ equipment so that he can mix and play music for his fans, family and friends. Thanks to Nature Made for a generous grant, we were able to grant his dream at our fundraiser in October! We were excited to see his reaction to his new MacBook Pro and his DJ equipment. Andrew DJed our Christmas party in December and was reall!

Robbie is a special guy that doesn't want much out of life. He faces the challenges of numerous health problems, including Cerebral Palsy and being blind.

However his dream was a simple one - he wanted to sit outside on a swing and enjoy what mother nature has for him in the form of touch, smell and sound. We at the Dream Factory made his dream come true by providing him with some shade in the form of a pergola, so that he can stay outside during the day and a swing for he and his family to swing on.

We provided him some wind chimes, some fragrant flowers and a fountain for sensory stimulation. He really enjoys his new area and it's hard to make him come inside! We are glad to have been able to make his dream come true.

<![CDATA[Dream #4 - Tagen]]>Fri, 02 Oct 2009 00:00:00 -0800http://sadreamfactory.org/1/post/2009/10/dream-4-tagen.html
Picture
At the age of 6, Tagen has already experienced more than a child should ever have to. He is living with cerebral palsy and typically has braces by his ankles. Even with these challenges, he has a contagious smile and loves all things Disney. In fact, he breathes, eats and sleeps Disney. His dream is to visit "Mickey's House" and see all of his favorite characters.

Thanks to The Something mAAgic Foundation and WishFlight 2009 for making his dream come true.

On October 2nd, Tagen and his family were up early to begin the dream trip to Central Florida. They were able to sit back and enjoy their ride to the airport in a luxury limo that was generously provided by Schertz Funeral Home. Once they arrived at the airport, they were greeted with signs, balloons, lots of cheering and applause. The ticket counter and the gate area were decorated in Tagen's honor and you could feel the excitement in the air. Thanks to The Something mAAgic Foundation and American Airlines, Tagen enjoyed a HUGE birthday and send off party.
Disney decorations were everywhere and the walls were lined with cards and well wishes from Tagen's classmates. He received lots of gifts from airport employees and the Captain of his flight came out to talk with him before their flight. Last year's WishFlight child gave Tagen "Lucky Bear" so that he wouldn't be afraid on the flight. Everyone in the gate area enjoyed lots of goodies and sang Happy Birthday before they boarded the plane to enjoy their First Class flight to Dallas. As the plane began to depart, the Fire Department gave the plane a water cannon salute in Tagen's honor. There was more partying in Dallas and a huge reception in Orlando. The family stayed at Give Kids the World for the next week and enjoyied everything that Central Florida has to offer on this trip of a lifetime. Tagen has even been able to go to "Mickey's House" and give Mickey a big hug!

We also thank the Disney Store at NorthStar Mall for donating Mickey Mouse to Tagen!

<![CDATA[Dream #3 - Lia]]>Fri, 19 Jun 2009 00:00:00 -0800http://sadreamfactory.org/1/post/2009/06/dream-3-lia.html
Picture
3-year-old Lia’s challenges began at birth. She was born both prematurely and with Kinicterus. Now, Cerebral Palsy and Auditory Neuropathy are the primary challenges that she and her family battle each and every day.

When we first met Lia, it was quickly apparent to us that she is a big fan of the Disney Princesses. Her dream was to be able to go to Central Florida and enjoy the area attractions and meet her favorite characters.

What better choice of a dream could there be? Lia and her mother went to Central Florida from June 15 to June 19, 2009 and had the time of their lives.

Like so many other Dream Factory children, Lia visited Give Kids The World, a 70-acre resort in Kissimmee, Florida that is specifically for children with serious illnesses. Lia and her mom were able to enjoy a visit to The Magic Kingdom, Universal Studios, SeaWorld and other attractions. Lia was able to have a magical time and feel like the true princess that she is.

<![CDATA[Dream #2 - Alyse]]>Thu, 28 May 2009 00:00:00 -0800http://sadreamfactory.org/1/post/2009/05/dream-2-alyse.html
Picture
Alyse, 5 years old, never knew an organization like The Dream Factory of San Antonio could do anything for her.

Now living with Arthrogryposis and other chronic conditions, Alyse’s weekly routine revolves around therapy. Despite all that has been tossed at her, Alyse battles on and dreams of playing just like her brothers and friends do.

When asked about a dream choice, Alyse told us she wanted her very own playhouse and swing.

Generous organizations, businesses, and individuals supported our efforts to ensure that Alyse was treated like a true princess and to let her know that dreams do come true.

After enjoying a royal tea party, by Royal Tea Princess Parties, with her friend's and family, Alyse entered her playhouse with screams of joy and delight.

She then rushed over to her new swing and flew through the air with ease.

Alyse’s mom let us know, “Everything was unbelievable and I don’t think it could have been any more perfect. Watching her smile and play is truly amazing."

Our Thanks to the Following Organizations, Businesses and Individuals whose generous donations helped make Alyes’s dream come true!

Pittsburg Paint Co. - Craig Lemon, Manager - Paint

<![CDATA[Dream #1 - Phillip]]>Sat, 20 Dec 2008 00:00:00 -0800http://sadreamfactory.org/1/post/2008/12/first-post.html
Picture
The Dream Factory of San Antonio, TX was extremely excited to be able to grant our first dream on Saturday, December 20th.

Phillip is our first dream child. He is a 4 year old that is diagnosed with Lissencephaly and deals with this and other chronic conditions on a daily basis. His dream is to be able to enjoy a playscape at his house whenever he can.

For what is sure to be a day to remember for Phillip’s lifetime, we had a playscape installed for him and his family to enjoy in his backyard. During the course of the day, Phillip enjoyed a ride in a limousine to McDonalds where he enjoyed a party with some of his closest family and friends. Following this party, the limousine took Phillip back to his house for us to unveil his playscape.

Once at the house, Phillip’s mother took him through the house out the back door to the backyard, where the playscape was built. Once having balloons drop from the sky to celebrate the event, Phillip went to play on his new toy with all his friends.

Special thanks to Holiday Limousine, who donated the limousine for Phillip’s special day.
